St. John & Associates, Inc. has provided a wide range of professional engineering services to clients throughout the state. A partial list of our projects is given below.
Rehau Technology Center
St. John & Associates continued our long association with Rehau when we were chosen to develop the site plans and civil package for the spectacular new Rehau Technology Center here in Cullman. The 12,000 s.f. building houses engineering and design staff who oversee manufacturing processes in Cullman and around the world. Our work included design of the State funded access roadway as well as modifications to the existing site that integrate the many components of the facility.

Eightmile Creek Sewer Replacement
St. John and Associates worked with the City of Cullman to quantify infiltration and inflow in the Eightmile Creek-North Interceptor sewer system. SJA then provided design services for a replacement 36-inch ductile iron sewer interceptor and several secondary mains and lateral. Approximately 4.1 miles of the existing sewer system will be replaced, and 3.75 miles will be rehabilitated using trenchless methods as part of this project. Construction is expected to be complete by Summer 2015.
St. John and Associates New Building
On April 27, 2011, an EF4 tornado tore through downtown Cullman causing extensive destruction in the historic district. Fortunately, none of our employees were hurt, but the SJA building was among those that suffered severe damage. After the storm, St. John and Associates moved to a temporary office and began to develop plans to construct a new building at the original downtown site. The new 4000 square foot office building features Insulated Concrete Form construction, hydronic radiant floor heat with locally made Rehau tubing, and a historically accurate brick façade. We hope that the building will be a distinguishing feature of Cullman’s downtown restoration. Much of the credit goes to SJA’s project partners. Read about our green building.

Barber Motor Sports Park
SJA provided civil engineering and design services for the entire campus at Barber Motorsports Park. We prepared plans for the track, paddock, access roads, museum and all other buildings and development at the site. We also have designed upgrades and safety improvements to the race track. SJA has recently provided engineering design for the new driving school facility at Barber.
Duck River Dam
SJA is the owner’s representative to the Utilities Board of the City of Cullman for the Duck River Dam project. This project will create a new reservoir to meet the needs of Cullman County for many years to come. We are also the design engineers for the pipeline, roadway improvements and the recreation plan for the project. Take a look at these time-lapse pictures: site 1, and site 2.
Wallace State Sewer Repairs
SJA designed a series of wastewater collection system upgrades for the Wallace State Community College campus. Upon completion of these improvements, four sewer pumpstations will be replaced with gravity lines, helping to improve overall system reliability and reduce operation and maintenance costs into the future. SJA’s design and contracting services for this project complied with Alabama Building Commission requirements for state owned facilities.
Jack’s Family Restaurants has been one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the Southeast during the last five years. St. John and Associates has designed site plans for Jack’s Restaurants in over 30 locations across Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Cullman Regional Medical Center
SJA designed the original site plan for CRMC and has provided engineering and planning for each of the Professional Buildings and expansions on the campus.
Sportsman Lake Park, Cullman County
SJA designed paved walking trails and dirt mountain bike/walking trails throughout SLP for the Cullman County Commission.
Topre America Coporation
SJA designed the site plans for Topre America’s auto parts manufacturing plant in Cullman, Alabama. SJA also provided all of the civil engineering services for the recently announced $109 million expansion to the Cullman plant.
